1908 bill: pre-printed date and header: "Washington, D.C., July 1st, 1908. Payable at the Office. No. 722 12th Street, N.W. Tel. No. [typed:] Sandy, S. 16-5, Chas. H. Brooke, Olney, Md. To the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company." There follows a variety of options for billing: "For Telephone Service as per Contract for month of July, 1908: $1.50. For [ ] Additional Local Messages @ [ ] cents each for month of May, 1908: [blank]. For Toll Service (per statement herewith) for month of May, 1908: .70. Balance due on bill rendered: [blank]. Total: 2.20. Credit: [blank]. Balance due: [blank]. Received Payment [scribbled initials] For the Company." Also stamped "Paid Jul 22"
Other printed tidbits include: "Notice. [ ] Local Messages were used during May, 1908." "Please present this bill with payment." "For additional information refer this bill to the Division Manager. Bills Payable Monthly in Advance, as per contract.
1916: pre-printed date and header: "August 1, 1916. The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Baltimore City. Telephone accounts are due when rendered. If payment is neglected, service is subject to suspension without further notice. Prompt payment will be appreciated. Payable at The Company's Office." Typed info on customer: "16F5 Sandy S. Miss M.B. Brooke, RFD #1, Derwood, Md." Bill options: "Balance Due on Bill Rendered: [ ]. For Telephone Service as per contract for month of August, 1916: $1.65. For additional local message @ [ ] cents each for June, 1916: [blank]. For toll service (per statement herewith) from June 21st to July 20th, 1916: .26. Total: $1.91. Balance due: [blank]." note: these are related - Mr. Brooke is Miss Brooke's father, and both lived at Falling Green in Olney - but not clear how these specific bills, 8 years apart, are related to each other; maybe MCHS stapled them?
